UNDERSTANDING YOUR FEARS -- PART TWO

When we come down to the root cause of fear we will realise that the fear that causes the most grief is the fear of the unknown.

Knowledge Removes Fear

If you know what is going to happen to you, then you are not fearful.  If, for example, you were about to make a plane journey and, for whatever reasons, you were frightened of flying, if you were able to see into the future and to know that you were going to arrive at your destination safely, then there would be very little fear.  Similarly, if you were very ill and were concerned about your health and your future lifestyle, if you were able to see into the future and to see yourself living a healthy and active life, then, again, there would be very little fear.

Let me give you another example, If someone was chasing after you and you believed that they were going to attack you, then that situation would be a fearful one.  But if you then realised that you had dropped your purse and they were chasing after you to return it to you, then that knowledge immediately removes the fear!  So we can see very clearly that knowledge removes fear.  What you know, you do not fear.  You only fear that which you do not know, the unknown, and what is the unknown but the creations in your mind, your own unique thoughts about what constitutes a threat to you, about what would happen to you IF certain events were to take place.  So, in fact, you create your own fears and you create them not out of a response to reality but out of a response to your concept of the future which, in all probability, is wrong.

Subconscious Controlling

If knowledge removes fear, then how are you to obtain that knowledge, how are you to discover the reality either of the past or of the future??  Your knowledge of the past is contained within your physical brain cells, your memory, which is both highly subjective and highly selective.  Your knowledge of the future is non-existent because your physical brain, having not yet experienced the future, has no understanding of it.  So the only knowledge that you have, in this life anyway, is based on your experience of the life that you have lived up to this moment in time.  Now if, for example, your life has been one associated with wealth and many possessions, and if this situation has given meaning and purpose to your life, then, obviously, you would be fearful of losing that wealth and those posessessions because you believe that they are your security and that you could not live without them.  So your life would be controlled on a subconscious level by this overwhelming fear.

Coming to Terms

When you come to terms with your fears, what is being challenged, therefore, is your understanding of the world in which you live, your earthly knowledge.  But there is another source of knowledge within your being that can help you to handle your fears, namely, your spirit.  For you are dwelling, even now, within your spiritual body, which links you to the Source of all Life.  Which knows all things past, present and future.  Which does not even see separation between past, present and future, for time is purely an earthly measurement.

Your spirit will lead you into a true understanding of your fears.  It will not cause your fears to slip away, for they are part of your psychological being and are very real, but it will sound another understanding of life and will give you a wider perspective of your fears.  Your spirit, being linked to the Source of all Life, will bring this Source into your life.  You will grow to recognise the great truth that fear is simply a lack of trust in your Creator.  When you are not as one with your Creator then there is room for fear.  If you accept that fact then you can understand and come to terms with your every fear.

Your Greatest Fear

Consider the situation or the person that you fear most in all the world.  Now what would be your reaction if you had to face it or them right now??  Would you really be fearful or would not the fear disappear in the face of that reality and would you not then summon up every ounce of your physical and spiritual being in order to meet that challenge with right action??  Have you ever considered what would happen if you had to come to terms with your greatest fear -- death??  Have you ever asked yourself why you fear this one certainty in your life??  For if there is one thing that is certain in your life it is that you are going to die!  Why do you fear not just your own death but the death of your loved ones and friends.  If, like you, they are all going to die at some time, if, like you, they have to leave this physical plane of life as part of the natural cycle of their being, then why do you fear their going??

Spiritual Knowledge

You fear their going, basically, because you do not understand the reason for their going.  You do not have the knowledge as to why they have decided to die, as to why they have decided to leave this school of Earth.  How many of you, if faced with the serious illness of your child, would be fearful if you had the knowledge as to why that child had taken on the illness and why it had decided to die??  You can see, therefore, that spiritual knowledge, the knowingness of your Creator, removes fear.  You can also see that this knowledge has nothing whatsoever to do with physical memory, that it comes from a very different source.  It is not an accumulation of all your physical experiences so far.  It is a tapping into the source of Infinite Experience Itself, and what is the source of that Experience but your Creator, that Being Whom, you refer to as God.
